Urgent

PLEASE, I need your help. My 190 E, 2.6L, 1988, was token to

the Blacksmith for fixing the Locks. This Guy does'nt know how

lost the vaccum signal pressure, then We can't lock the doors.

What are the critical points for checking the vaccum pressure?

We feel vacuum pressure going out from the engine, but not enough vaccum at the driver door?

How to increase the vaccum pressure?

Any possible damaged parts to change? How to test it?

I would appreciate a vaccum system diagram.

Thanks.

I used to think that the who system was sealed. After my car was rear ended though the line that goes to the trunk got cut. When I would lock or unlock doors air would escape or get sucked in. All the locks still worked though. Later a patched the line with some tubing but it lead me to think the each unit on the lock must make its own vacuum.

Lock 'vacuum' has nothing to do with the engine. The pump is under the rear seat, and supplies either positive air pressure or vacuum to all the locks at once when it receives the appropriate electrical trigger from one of the front door lock switches or the trunk.

sTEVE, Thanks. May I have a diagram of the vaccum system with the parts?

I don't have a diagram. Remove the rear seat bottom with the two latches, then pull the foam cover carefully away from the pump. See what happens if you try to operate either front lock or the trunk one. Pump should come on until pressure builds, then shut back off. If it doesn't shut off within a couple of seconds, you have a leak, and will have to trace the tubing/connectors until you find it. There is one line to each actuator - 4 doors, trunk, and gas filler door.

tHANKS Steve.

You have reason, the pump is down the rear seat and it is the only device that supply vacuum to the doors. My pump is burned, and the mini compresor is stucked or blocked.

The Blacksmith didn't know how to oparate the vacuum system lock and did'nt take care about leaks and the continue time operating the pump.

At least he fixed the mechanical part of the lock, and now we can lock the doors only with the key without vaccum.

I have ordered the vacuum pump.
