The gear is a press fit and it was not budging with the little tapping that I did on it.

What is the best way to remove the old brass sleeve (the gear disintegrated) ? What would be a good tool ? With the faceplate still on, there hardly a place to support the speedo in order to relieve the shaft.

Also, which end of the shaft should you try to push out - the end where the gear is or the other end where there is a black round magnet ?

Thanks,

Amit
