600SEL - CA Emissions
I am moving to the Bay Area, and was wondering if my 1993 600SEL will have any problems complying with CA's emissions and other environ. laws (assuming the V12 is functioning as intended)????
Thanks in advance. BJL |
No.

Your vehicle will need to comply with California exhaust emission standards and, as long as the factory installed equipment is there you should not have any difficulty. Before taking your vehicle to one of our states many test stations, I strongly suggest a local MB dealer, install an OE fuel cap because the majority fail this part of the test.

You won't have a problem if it's a US-spec car. In fact I'll bet your 600 is 50-state certified since there weren't that many of them made/sold. If it's a Euro-spec car, there's a special one time inspection in store for you if it was not federalized specifically to CA code.
Not a problem if you're coming in from Canada with a Canadian-spec car either. Sixto 95 S420 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |
When was last time you changed your O2 sensors. I am pretty sure that your car will pass the test. Make sure the car is fully warmed up before the test because the hotter the exhaust system, the more complete of a combustion process.

Thanks
Thanks to everyone for the input!
