I own a 1987 260E which has covered 83500 miles, which has started to slip in Drive, but does not slip in 3rd, can anyone give any advise, and a gearbox company to carry out the repair.

THERE are 2 teflon seals on the clutch drum support that "harden" & then leak for the 4th speed. Sounds as if this is your problem. Wish I could come over & find you a sutible repair shop.
