When i start the car in the morning cold (sitting overnight), and i shift into reverse from park, i hear a "cling" sound. Could this be the front flex disc? Also when the car is warm (after driving for 30 min on the freeway)and i come to a complete stop, i shift from reverse to drive, the car "jumps" alittle. Are both of these problems due to the flex discs? transmission mounts??...How could i make the "cling", and "jump" go away??...What are signs of worn flex discs?
Thanks in advance..... Agron 1989 300E (107k miles) |
I would also suspect the drive shaft center bearing which should have a set of u-joints that would also "clang".

I have not had to replace the u-joints in one of these yet. Most of the time it is the front flex disc.
