Does it make any sense to change now?
 

I have 176,000 mi. on my m.b.Would changing to synthetic oil make any sense? I am changing the oil every 3,000 mi. with Castrol 15w-40w

I would not change now.

I changed the 280 SE over when I got it (I think, who knows what kind of oil an owner who lets his kid drive a fast car with no brakes would use....)

No problems. The valve covers leaked like crazy, but I fixed that, seems to run about 1000 miles before it gets to the halfway mark.
