190e 2.3 Automatic Transmission Problem

The other day my car quit going forward :(. It only goes backward. I checked the automatic transmission fluid level and the fluid level is fine. Any thoughts on this problem? Does it require a total rebuild? HELP!! Any simple items I can check?
