Car Stolen...Charleston, SC...

Attn.: All Forum members in Charleston

Theft alert: A friend of mine had his 300TD (W123) stolen from downtown Charleston last night. The car was last seen going onto Johns Island around 10 o'clock this morning. The vehicle is blue (like a muted royal blue) and the most distinguishing feature is the back bumper is bent down at a 45 deg. angle to the ground. South Carolina commercial tag (white with red letters, says "truck") P286903.

I'll be looking.

I have both a 95 E320 sedan and wagon, and am curious...how many forum members live in Charleston area?

I appreciate you keeping your eyes open. I saw passed my buddy's car this morning on the way to work. I was driving my CJ7 as I am in the middle of replacing the lower balljoints on my CD (whole 'nother thread in DD) When I got downtown, I heard his car was stolen last night when I saw him driving his CJ7! If I had only known!

I'm not sure how many of us are here. Might be a good idea to post a new thread to that effect in the general discussion forum to find out. There sure are a lot of MB's here, though. Where do you get your cars serviced?

If this was the original radio.. I don't understand why it was stolen. They're not going to make money on it. Luckily your friend's car was found undamaged except for the radio. I like happy endings

Is this sort of thing common in Charleston any more than any other city? My daughter's thinking of going to college there...

Beevly - my daughter went to College of Charleston and loved it. Charleston is OK as large cities go - hot, humid, no wind and everybody moves very slowly. Lot of history and heritage there too. I enjoyed it on my trips down there. Schools are not expensive there either if you have residency (sp?)

Thanks Dave - that's exactly where she wants to go!

This is not very common; Charleston is a very safe city on a relative scale, especiallly downtown and around CofC. However, when you leave your car running with the keys it you're pretty much asking for it. CofC is a well ranked college, esp. liberal arts, and for the cost is a lot of education for the $. I employ many CofC students through the years.
