Clutch Problems
C180 Classic: Manual:1995
I would be grateful for some comments on a recent clutch related problem with my car. On a recent journey the 'bite point' of the clutch appeared to move significantly further down the pedal movement and on one occasion the pedal became stuck on the floor and I had to move it by putting my foot under and pulling it up. Since then, however, the clutch operation appears OK albeit with the bite point at a slightly lower point on the pedal travel. The clutch is not slipping and the fluid reservoir tank is full. I suspect a problem with either the slave or master cylinder. Could this have been a 'blip'? I would be grateful for your wisdom. I have already done a search but to no avail. Thanks, John |

Since the fluid level is good the likely candidate is the master cylinder. Experience shows that when one is having problems the other isn't far behind. Due to the disturbance of junk in the replacement the slaves often fail soon after.
