Ok this is stupid question but being the anal individual I am I want to refurbish my sun bleached third brake light...but I do not want to break it in the process. Any ideas on how this puppy comes out...I can't find any screws anywhere underneath that are accesible and I'm afraid to pry too hard. Thanks for any help you can give!

Take off the rear cover, on the inside there are two spring clips, There aren't any wires, the spring clips double as contactors.

Pull the whole assembly toward the front of the car. After removal, you should be able to see how it comes apart. Be careful with this; that plastic is very brittle and will easily crack in your hands. If you have $90 to spare, just buy a new one.

Speaking of 3rd braking lights. Will those newer LED ones(those on current C-Class) fit on my W140??? I have seen a W126 fit with the newer one, and actually think it gives better warning.....
