If the throttle is gently used ie. slowly pressed down then no problem...However if it is pushed down fast the engine gasps and nearly stops...Any ideas on this problem would be helpful..the car does everything else fine ..just this annoying problem Thanks Alan

If it has converted EGR on it, the valve can be sticking open, This sounds like a lean problem, so you should have the fuel pressures checked and look for an air leak.

Your car could be could have a number of different systems depending on the year and version.
I presume you have a simple K-Jet system. On this system the prime component for acceleration enrichment is the warm-up (control pressure) regulator. Loss of manifold pressure causes the control pressure to enrich by about .5bar. ------------------ Steve Brotherton Owner 24 bay BSC Bosch Master, ASE master L1 26 years MB technician |
