key on, lights off, switch illum. ON??
 

Kind of strange thing I've noticed lately - when the key is on, but the lights are off, the center console switches + gear shifter illumination is on. When I turn on the lights, everything comes on, but the interior dimmer doesn't work for the switches that are always lit. Everything else works as advertised.

The car is an '87 300E.

At this point, I'm more curious than anything else... mostly worried about burning out some lights early...
