Trailer hitch-500E!
I'm considering using my 500E to pull a race trailer (track car)-I'd like to consider an OE piece, so can anyone come up with a Part Number? Any other mods I should consider beyond the usual suspects (oil & trans fluid coolers)?
Thanks in advance

Try this website. www.hitch-web.com and search under 500E.
I tried to find one for my E320 wagon to use for a bike rack and Dalan was the only manufacturer who had it (Class I only). Hidden Hitch has one but only for the E320 sedan (Class II). Dalan specializes in hithes for imports. 3 star |

Interesting question.
Seems you would need a class3 hitch for that, which is not available, as far as I can tell. What does this setup weigh? Must be north of 3500lbs. Could have something fabricated, I suppose. Not sure what the body structure can handle using available mount points. Perhaps some clever welding could spread the load. I doubt the rear suspension is up to the tongue weight without mods. Somewhat beyond the tow rating, but I do not know the 'weakest link'. I would guess that the driveline itself is up to the task, with proper cooling. Trailer like that should certainly have its own brakes. Happy trails.
