I recently aquired a 1982 300SD. It needs new brake line and I remember reading a post on where to get stainless brake line over the web at a good cost. I did a search here and couldn't locate the post. Can someone help me out on this one?

The brake lines that are affected by age are the rubber lines. If you feel a need, that MB didn't, to use metalic brake lines where they use rubber, I can't help you.

To try and re-engineer something MB has spent their life doing makes no sense to me.
Do you presume to know something special about your circumstances that MB didn't understand? The rubber flexlines under the most abused of circumstances get the job done. What else is there???

I've heard that the rubber lines will stretch but the teflon / stainless braided ones can break suddenly, making the rubber ones more reliable but give slightly less performance because they stretch a bit under hard braking. My SD can lock up its tires in a panic stop, so this is an area I don't want to mess with. I'm not one to check brake lines weekly, although the braided stainless is admittedly way cool looking.

I have never heard that the stainless steel lines will go suddenly. I guess I will go with OEM.
