I have an '85 Mercedes 190D, Euro spec. I've come across a 2.5 liter diesel engine that looks similar (except for that 5th cylinder) and I was wondering if I could drop it in. The engine swap would also change out the 4 speed tranny with a 5 speed, I can get hold of pretty much all necessary parts.

If the engine will fit, what other things will I need to change? The computer? Wiring Harness? Anything else along those lines? Any information provided would be appreciated.

If you have both cars side by side the swap can be done. I would not spend the time on it, but if you want to, you should be able to.
