W126 Sunroof hurricane

My sunroof motor is shot. I have tried to remove the motor and cannot seem to release it from the cable. I have it all unbolted, but it remains stuck to the cable. My sunroof is now sagging in the back. It is allowing water and wind noise into the car. The noise is so bad it sounds like a hurricane. Does anyone out there know how to get my roof adjusted and the motor out?

The manual adjustment on the motor is trashed from the previous owner opening and closing the sunroof. This is on my 88 560SEL.

Thanks,

yes, u need to disasemble it from the tract. i have a spare motor if u need it, i can give it to u for $50+s/h. make sure its not the fuse fisrt tho.

to disassemble it, as far as i can remember. u need to unblot the whole thing from the bod of the car, then undo take off the cover that covers the cbale to the motor. and undo 2 clips to release it. it was a lot easier when i had a spare motor to look at and it took me about an hour to swap it. make sure u save all t he hardware tho.

50+SH, you have a deal. Let me look at my motor again and try to remove it per your instruction. I do know it is definitely bad. Please send me a private email, [email]dkingsbury@idexcorp.com.

thanks

sunroof

David,

I don't know if this will apply to a tilt-and-slide, but it may help:
