How to remove 107 4.5 camshaft woodruff key?

I dial indicated after new timing chain and guides and my Right camshaft is off by 8 degrees on the crank. I have a 4 degree offset key but I cant seem to get the old straight key out of the camshaft. Are there any tricks. Do I have to remove the spacer behind the cam sprocket first?

thanks again,
jmdunn

Try tapping the end of the key gently with a hammer and see if it will rotate out of the slot. A little soak in PB Blaster wouldn't hurt.

The spacer behind the sprocket seems to cover a part of the key do I need to remove it?

thanks,
jmdunn

Sorry, but I don't remember the order that stuff came apart, but it seems to me that the spacer slid off over the key. If it won't do that, then you will have to persuade the key to come out first. There should be a second key under the spacer.
