I have an 83' 500sl. The car hasn't been driven much since I got it in January. However, although it took a minute or so to warm up after this period it would run great. Recently the car has been sitting about three weeks or so while I replace the interior. I took it out yesterday and noticed that from pulling out up to about 1700-1800 rpm I feel a kind of shake. Maybe a little rough running but once above 1800 rpm it runs fine and is very smooth. The idle really doesn't seem that rough and if you depress the accelerator while in park there is no hesitation. I read some of the post on rough idle. Does this car have the hydraulic motor mounts. Distributor and wires were all new when I got the car. It just seems kind of coincidental that this occurs since its been sitting.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This could be something as simple as a resistor end or plug getting weak..I'd scope the engine and see what you can find out.

OK! The car has sat another three weeks while I finished the interior. Now I need to address this rough running problem. I have the CD-ROM. Is there some kind of test I can start with? Plugs are easy enough to change but the fact that it runs fine above 1800rpm doesn't seem like thats the problem. However, at the moment I don't know where to start. Is it a fuel system problem or ignition? I'm good at testing procedures but I don't have any special tools. There is not a shop in the area that I feel comfortable with so, I like to try to remedy this myself. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
