Motor Oil costs
I have been reading some of the posts about oilchanges and costs. I live in Charlotte NC and was quoted a price of 125.00 from the local MB dealer. I decided to purchase some oil from a local Mobil distributor. The oil is 0-40W European blend formula. Trust me this stuff isnt cheap. I obtained 2 6-qt cases for right around 64.00

Lots and lots of info about oil, oil changes, oil types and brands. What year and model car do you have? My '99 E300TD oil change costs about $110 so I bought a topsider and do it myself much cheaper now. The wagon generally costs about $60 so I do that car more often and much cheaper now than the dealer can.

Wal-mart now has the 0W-40 for under $5 per quart. I use 15W-50 in my car and they had them in 5 quart jugs for $22.

Autozone has 0W-40 for $5 as well. The local MB dealer has it for $5.15 or something like that. Make sure you don't use a Wal-Mart or Autozone filter.

I was able to buy a 5 qt. jug of Mobil 1 at my local Walmart for $18.83, which works out to $3.76 a quart. An oil change on a Mercedes with Mobil 1 and an OEM filter should cost a DIYer about $40
