Need pin numbers and codes for ASR

HI guys,

I just completed building my "test light" for my '95 E320 wagon. Thanks for the schematics. I now need to know what pins on the socket to connect to, and the codes for and ASR trouble light that is on in my '95 E320 wagon. The lights been on for about a week, no noticeable changes in the way the car runs at all, just the light comes on after the car is running for about 10 min.

Thanks
Evan Lewis

you need to hook your newly made scan tool to socket 14 and read the codes. Let us know what you get. Socket 14 is the EA/CC/ISC socket for ASR and non-ASR vehicles.

codes from socket 14

Ok,

these are the codes that I extracted from pin14 on my '95 E320

PIN14 returned:

6,11 and 14

I checked out the other pins as well and the only other one that returned codes was PIN3

4.6 and 9

I appreciate all your help..

BTW. since the radio shack guy told me that the led he had on hand had 1k of resistance built in...I did not put another resistor in the system( the codes on pin 3 co-incicded with the codes returned by the little push button...so I figured it's working correctly)

Thanks!!!

ok Evan, your code reader is built correctly by not using a 1k ohm resistor, it's usually built into the LEDS.

Now for some discouraging news, I would clear the codes and hold your breath for a while to see if your ASR light goes out and those codes return. Reason is they are the same codes I had when I discovered the wiring harness was shot on my throttle actuator. There seems to be a few people besides myself lately that have had to replace them and they're not cheap.

Socket 14 codes: EA/CC/ISC

Code 6 - Starter lock-out/back-up lamp switch
Code 11 - Fuel Safety Shut-off Signal
Code 14 - CTP switch

Here's the DTCs for . . .

Pin 3: Diag Module

Code 4 - Air Injection System [AIR]faulty; Hot film Mass Air Flow Sensor
Code 6 - Idle Speed Control [ISC] faulty
Code 9 - Intake Air Temp [IAT] sensor open circuit

Check the harness in some key places to see if it's 'crumbling'

thanks to Dale and Jim

Thanks a bunch to both of you for your help. I've got the feeling that some if not all of those codes may be a couple months old. I had the wiring harness and the throttle slide replaced (at MB's expense) about 5 months ago. I just got off the phone with my service advisor, and he could not tell me positively or not if the old codes had been cleared when they did the repairs, but did suggest that I check out the battery under a load test. Luckily i have acces to a load tester at the firehouse, and the battery did seem to need replacement. So....I have replaced the battery and cleared all the codes in the system with my little "reader". The ASR light is now out and doesn't come back on at all...so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and just recheck it in a few weeks......Thanks alot for your help.

BTW-what manual or doc did you guys get the codes list from...I've love to have a copy for future reference.

Thanks
Evan
