Approximate cost of chain and rails W126

I just want to see what people are paying for W126 (85 380SE) timing chain, tensioner and upper guide rail replacement.

Car has double row chain and 115k miles. Every once in a while, I get a little bit of rattle upon starting, which leads me to believe tensioner is shot.

in a shop $500-700
yourself $120 plus about 5 hrs, 3 hrs if you have the special tool for guiding the chain.
Forgot to say if yours is the single chain 380 it is much more as it has to be converted to a double chain.

How do you know it's time to do the chain and rails? I know it should be around 150k miles, but are there any indications that it needs to be done RIGHT NOW or is it just a situaiton where you suck it up and have it done?

do a search on this there is loads. but to summerize, when the rails look like beer bottle colour (brown, if it is green you got bigger problems;-) )and/or the chain is too stretched (this depends on the model).

I assumed that, new chain and tensioner go together. I take it yours is the double chain 380 then.
