Emergency flasher switch: buzzing noise

When I push/activate the emergency flasher switch on the dashboard (center), nothing happens except that I notice a buzzing noise on the left side of the dash somewhere behind the hand/parking brake.

Any clues what's fault?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what car you are working with, but a lot of these problems are a result of bad solder joints.

I had a problem where I had no buzzing at all, pulling out the buzzer relay and resoldering all the joints fixed it right up. I'm guessing this is similar, but I can't be sure.

Thanks. Tried it again this morning, and guess what: yep, works fine again.. Just moisture, I think.

Try pulling the relay and cleaning the contacts , or you will probably have the problem return soon.Good luck.

My manual says that I need to pull out the combi instrument (speedo/rpm/etc) to reach this relay. Is that correct? Seems risky to break something...

The hardest part about pulling the instument cluster is disconnecting the speedo cable at the tranny. This gives you enough slack to get it out far enough to undo the speedo connection . There is also a ground behind the cluster that you should check and clean while you're at it.
