I have a 300E with 135kms on it that i just purchased not too long ago.I dont drive it too often in winter but took it out the other day and it seemed to me that it slipped and the rpm jumped to 4000 and it was going nowhere. This only happened twice when its not warmed up more than 10 minutes and never repeats itself.
The vehicle has been regularly serviced accourding to the books and is in mint shape.Any suggestions?
I did change a radiator a couple of months ago when the neck cracked ..could i have done something wrong ???
Thanks for the input.I know it needs a O2 sensor as the light comes on intermittently and the cover behind the battery seems to be missing.

how's the trains oil level, I had a similar problem and I fixed it by changing the regulator on the side of the transmition. I don't remember the exact name. I remember the car used to smoke when driven on the highway and then let go of the gas and then accelerate again. This was because the engine would suck the oil thrugh the bad regulator. It would also do the same thing you discribe but it would only slip a bit and then catch on.

good luck

Vacuum modulator is hanging up. Change it. If you had the radiator changed, make sure the oil lines from the trans to the radiator are not leaking. (On the left side of the rad looking at it from the front of the car, check with the engine running.)O2 sensor not in the loop re tranny shifting. Good luck

I would have this checked. It could be the problem, but so could anything else...

The labor and adjustment should be less than 2 hours IF this turns out to be the problem.

Benzmac,i had this car in the local MB dealership and they did the transmission service and the tech did a road test and said all was ok.
I am not sure what to do next please help.
The problem only arises when i start the car and drive when its fairly cool and it shows up about 1-2 km away from my house and then nothing ever happens thereafter.
Your input will be appreciated. How to test etc.if this is the problem??

Thanks in advance.

AV, you need to go back to the dealer and get the service manager to go for a ride with you. You need to replicate the problem for the tech. If it's flairing between shifts, is it just 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th. There are a number of things that could be causing this. If the dealer said all was well and it isn't, drive with a light foot back to the dealer and show them what you are describing. This could also be a sticking pressure regulator valve. Bottom line, the tech who worked on it has to see the problem to get a better idea what the cause actually is...

Thanks Jeff
I appreciate your advise but its really impossible to replicate this as it only happens only sometimes and doesnot repeat itself ever again the same day.

However i will attempt to do it.
