260E what is connected here?
With all advices from every body I am getting rid of the unstable idle on my 260E, 1988 ( By the way, thanks to all who replied to my previous posts)
I intend to change the idle control valve hoose to air intake. before getting the old pulled out and the car stuck I want to know what is connected in the connection with arrow. Is it cold start injector or do I have the wrong spare part? Is it possible to take out the old one without dimounting the whole injection sytem? Any hints to do it easily? Well, I changed those hoses last week. All you need is a long 5mm hex to remove the cold start valve from out the hose. You do not have to remove the injectors, but the cold start valve has to be removed in order to get access to re-attach the hose. I learned a trick:
When re-installing that hose, those clamps are a piece of work to re-attach the hose to the connector. -I got a paper clip(open it up) and a pair of pliers. I squeezed the clamp with the pliers and inserted the (opened up) paper clip into the clamp. That way the clamp is wide open. I sprayed the hose opening with a little wd40 so it slides on easier to the connector. I slid the clamp onto the hose and attached it to the connector. I then used the pliers to pull the paper clip out ant the clamp instantly tightened onto the connector. Hope this helps

Thanks mike690003
Your description is absolutely helpfull I will use it. These hoses are very difficult to access. Is the cold start injector connected to the hole I mentionned with red arrow? Any good hint for changing the other one on the Idle control valve? |

Yes the cold start injector goes there.
The other hose connector is easily visible and is a lot easier to install the hose to. Just make sure you spray the hoses with a little wd-40 so they slide on easy.

Quote:
your explainations were brilliant I replaced both hoses without any difficulties. As lubricant I used a little bit of the "grease" they use for mounting the tires. The idle is much smoother now. |

Is there a difference in the economy/vacuum gauge reading?
