'70, 6.3 Suspension

Hi - The driver side rear end is low by 1-2 cm, a clear tilt looking from the back. This car is new to me, but I do plan to perform maintenance and some reapir myself, and this is one I'd like to tackle - advice on where to start would be appreciated!

I'm just starting to research this, and only thing I've read is that it may be the front valves.

Also, how quickly does this need to be done, i.e., will it impact any other areas - I don't drive many miles with it. Thanks.

is that side low all the time or just when the car has been shut off for a while? if it's all the time then chances are that it's the valves, if it occurs after the car has been sitting i'd suspect a leak somewhere.

the suspension in the 6.3 is notorious for leaking. the leaks can be hard to find and expensive to fix.

It appears to be low all the time. I bought the car in June, and it was well checked out, with no sign of this problem then - I certainly understand about the expense. By the way, that info I found about the front valves being the possible culprit, was on the Star Motors sight in their published troubleshooting guide - I take it they are a very reliable source of info, but have no references with regard to that.

Thanks.

Can anyone else jump in on this for me?

After some feedback from others, I measured the front side as well, and it appears that both front and back are down on the driver side about 1 cm. The advice so far is that I may be able to adjust the front end and level the car, so it may not be a air leak.

Any help fromn the "experts" here would be appreciated!

I explained this earlier, read it, and do it. This is a simple front rod adjustment. Adjust either right or left it does not matter. Once the fronts are exact the rear will be level. Just make sure your parked on a level surface. Are You? This is so easy, just look under the the front subframe.

Hey Dan - got all your info, thanks. I postd some detail of a converstion with my mechanic over on m-100.info forum. He seemsed to indciated, and I saw somethin here, about a possible adjustment on the rear as well??? In any case, I'll let you know how this turns out.

Thanks again. BTW, where can find some pics of your fine 6.3's? I'm working to get mine on here.

Fema, yes there is one air valve and height adjuster in the rear, but it has nothing to do with your front end being low on one side. Simply adjust either the right or the left front. A 10 year old farm boy could figure this out in 5 seconds. A city boy, maybe 2 to 3 days.
