RE: DRAIN

Are you driving the car daily? When I got the Range Rover, if it sat for 2 days the battery went flat, even replaced the battery twice. It charged fine, turned out the problem was the CD-changer (factory) in the back and the alarm system. When I started driving it daily, it always starts. That may be the key...

For those who have CD-Changer function problems, the factory changer in my 96 Volvo was a piece of junk. Worked when we test drove it, failed the day we bought it. Cartridge wouldn't eject. I took it apart and lubed everything with some saxophone key oil, I mean EVRYTHING, and now it has worked ever since.

Can relate. To prevent that from happening to me, I purchased a 'Priority Start' ''battery protector'' that prevents battery from going below about 11.9 volts, just in case the cd changer does go bad and tries to drain the battery. Was worth the $50.00 for a piece of mind when wife drives this 600 to work and sometimes we let it set for a few days. So far, have not had any problems and the battery protect device has not yet engaged to protect the battery.

Did you check the alternator? If the car jumps and runs and then will not restart it could be that the alternator is not throwing enough juice to recharge it. I would give that a try. Good Luck

Brian

Becker SilverstoneCD Changer

1991 420 SEL. I want to ask anyone that has a Silverstone CD Changer if there's a small light in the CD changer near the cartridge that is always on. Is that normal ? My battery recently started draining itself if I don't drive it for a few days. The CD changer works good and so does the Becker 1432. Just that little light worries me. It's there to light the way when you want to change the CD's to let you see the cartridge but it should turn off after you lock the car. Even tried sliding the CD changer door closed, lights still stays on inside the box. Thinking about trying to disconnect the bulb inside. Thanks

I've got a 93 300D that was having this issue and I ended up having to replace the alternator and the interior dome light.
