Difference between Bosch AL66X & AL166X alternator

My vehicle is listed below in my signature. Some sources say the Bosch AL66X is the replacement reman; others say the AL166X is. Both are 80 amp from what I'm able to dig up and their mounting holes line up the same.

Would appreciate it if anyone could tell me the difference between these 2 alternators.

Thanks for your time.

al66x has 25mm shaft and is 80amp.
al166x has 35mm shaft and is 100 amp.

Fletch - appreciate the post; however, the following site shows them to both be 80 amp.

Fletch - once again - thanks for the post.

I queried about a half dozen web rebuilders. Half said the AL166X was 100amp as you reported, the other half said it was 80amp.

One of the 6 said that there were two(2) AL166X alts. - one for gas & one for diesel. He said the diesel version was 100amp; the car version 80 amp.

Who knows?

Onward.
