Help! Wires came out of EHA Connector!

While doing some maintenence under the hood of my '91 190e 2.3 I noticed the wires were completely out of the EHA valve! (the check engine light had come on earlier last week). So, I have no idea which wire goes where.

There's two wires, one black and one brown with a black stripe. The connector has the numbers 1 and 2 on it. Can anyone tell me which wire goes where?

Maybe, the wiring diagram for your car doesn't show the connector numbers but the earlier one has Brown and Black on #1, and Black on #2.

It won't hurt anything to get them backwards but you will figure it out pretty quick. Reversing them changes the direction of the current flow and it will make the positive current 60+ma starting enrichment look just like the -60ma decel cutoff (the exact opposite and not likely to start a cold car.

Thanks Steve! I'll try that arrangement and see what happens.

Is it the same numbering (Brown and Black on #1, and Black on #2) for the 560SEL 1989???
