Ernst muffler 95 E320 wagon
 

I ordered a replacement muffler from parts.mbz.org (Rusty); his online catalog described the part as being supplied either from Eberspaecher or from Ansa. Someone on this site voiced their displeasure with Ansa exhaust parts, and I believe Eberspaecher was OEM. It was $30 more than the Ansa. I ordered the Eberspaecher (even doublechecked that it was Eberspaecher specifically with Rusty over the phone), and got a part that was manufactured by Ernst and is painted black. I searched for Ernst in the archives and found nothing. The part is made in Germany at least! Anyone know of this manufacturer and their reputation for exhaust parts? I'm thinking that since I paid for it, I should get the OEM that I requested. Thanks in advance for replies.

Ernst manufactures quality exhaust components -- much better than Ansa, but they are definitely not OEM, and they are certainly less expensive than Eberspacher. I would say that someone owes you some money...

Okay, so I called Rusty this morning. If anyone is thinking about doing business with him, DON'T HESITATE!! He told me that they did not have Eberspaecher in the warehouse, and their price for the Ernst is the same as for Eberspaecher. I told him that I only wanted Eberspaecher, all the while thinking that a fight was about to ensue. His reply:
"Okay, I'll have UPS come get it from you. You'll have to get the muffler from someone else because I don't have an Eberspaecher. The charge will be removed from your card"
Woah! That was really easy! I'll definitely be doing business with him in the future!
By the way, I've done business with Fastlane in the past and have been very pleased with them. I'll be calling them to see if they have the Eberspaecher. Their listed price for the part was only a few bucks more.
