Reliability Issue
Just bought Merc E230(W210) 96 model with 722.4 Auto trans. Any comments about the M111 engine and Auto trans. I've read from this forum there's some reliability issues on 5 speed Auto trans 722.6. Which is more reliable 722.4 vs 722.6. Any big difference between this two in terms of fuel economy since 722.4 is without lock-up clutch.

I think the reliability issue is really a compatability issue with the newer engines (V6) in 1997. A few posts recently discussed that as well. They are both good transmissions and engines. The 1997 problem was fixed and is also mentioned here somewhere.

Wish someone could advise me whether its worth for me to upgrade from 722.4 to 722.6(5 speed Auto). It cost me another 2000USD.Thanks
