E420 Accident Black Box?

Does the MB E 420 1997 have the ability to store pre-accident info. For example, speed, were the brakes applied etc.

This is a serious question, freedom is at stake!

Thanks in advance
Adam

I don't know for sure, but I doubt anybody has it. This may be contemplated as a design feature of the next generation of OBD.

GM has had it for some time, and the use of the data has become an issue. There are privacy issues at stake, and this subject is not to be ignored. The data has been mined by the courts in collision investigation, and the access to the data has become easier thanks to more rulings in favour of it's usage.

I belive the SRS control module didn't start saving data until the
new generation of units came out in 99/2000.
Dealerships cannot access this info without the special recovery
tool. Mbusa does recover this data when it is claimed that the vehicle caused the accident. No brakes, sudden acceleration, ect...
The newest units store all kinds of good things like speed , rpm,
throttle %, brake application %, steering angle, vehicle yaw and
lateral acceleration, and so on.

Drive carefully.
