HELP!
This may seem like an overreaction, but I try to keep my car (86 300E) in decent shape... I discovered a small crack in the dashboard padding at the defroster register. It's about 1cm long and about 2mm wide - right now. Anyone have any fixes for this? I have seen vinyl repair kits but have never used any such product. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Nick PS - also posted this in Detailing. |

What color is the trim. If it's black, you may have a problem in that black trim tends to get hotter than lighter colored trim. If you use a vinyl repair kit, try and complete the repair at an average temperature. The vinyl tens to expand when hot and shrink when cold. This will give your repair a lot of exercise. It can be done, but the bad news is that it's generally not permanent. Also, you really need good access to the area you are repairing. if it's the defroster outlet, you are not going to have adequate access. Sorry, but unless there is another type of repair that can be made, short of replacing the damaged component, I am not aware of it. I only know what I have tried on this type of problem. Good luck!!

Anyone have personal/direct experience with these Coverlay dash covers? I noticed 2 things with this cover [1] there's no clearance cutout over the speaker areas, only a hole pattern [2] the cover comes with adhesive. Is this removable adhesive? If NOT, then how does one replace the dash speakers if required? How is the fit/finish on this item? Any comments or insights would be greatly appreciated.
