Looking for opinions on reliability, nuances, known problems etc. Look forward to you guys replying humor and serious answers accepted . Oh yeah asking price is 16k. To much/little for Houston, Tx?

Price might be a little on the low side. Why?? Damage??

If not, get it and enjoy

Good record for reliability.

Hey thanks Benzmac, I'll find out. Taking it to Lemon-Busters in Houston next week. Oh the interior is MB texture not leather, cass. no CD. The MB texture vs the leather may explain the price you think?

MB-Tex is actually easier to be taken care of, and usually will last alot longer. Leather needs to be well taken care of or it will crack in no time....

Good luck...and enjoy...

Hey Leon,

Houston huh? Hope the A/C works good! Just kidding, we have had a 96' C280 for about a year and overall are happy with the car. We have only put about 15k on the car, so the verdict is still out. But my wife loves her Benz and will own nothing else!

Checkout, http://www.nadaguides.com/ , http://www.kbb.com/indexv.html , and http://www.edmunds.com/ for a ball park on pricing.

Just be sure to pay close attention to the structural welds for any accident evidence to see if they look original, have a M/B mechanic check the car out completely, a Vehicle Inspection is a must when buying a car with such high cost potential in regards to repair! Well worth the $125 that is typical, you won't be sorry.

With that said, if everything checks out, you will enjoy the car greatly! Good power and if you ever decide to do any mod's in the future, the C-Class will look great.

Hi, Leon:

We bought our 94' C280 last May (1999) from my cousin in Austin TX. She let us have the car with only 28K miles on the clock at dealer's trade-in price ($18K then). We drove him back (I prefer my C280 as a boy) to Southern California and since then put more than 20K miles including trips to Yellowstone and Grand Canyon.

Problems since then? None. However, I have heard that the cylinder head gasket tends to fail prematurely which causes engine oil leaking (which is a common problem on 93, 94 inline 6 engines). You should be able to find some info by search the archive.

Mine didn't come with CD either. However I managed to put an Alpine 6 CD changer for less then $350. It was a plug-and-play stuff and works well with the stock radio/cassette unit. E-mail me if you need further info about the CD changer.
