Remember the raging debate over Herb Gordon Mercedes, resetting service codes after an owner oil change, and the very nature of the universe? Here is one answer!

Buy a device called "LiteOff" from Diagnostic Information Software. Then you can service your car yourself and turn the light off. This device was reviewed in the current issue of The Star. You can see it on their web site, www.distools.com along with other specialty tools for Mercedes work.
Neat site.

HAS ANYONE SEEN THE 2 CD SET OF MERCEDES INFORMATION THAT THEY OFFER? IS IT WORTH $69.95?

BTW - In the Washington Post today, I read that Herb Gordon Auto World donated a 230SLK to a local charity to be raffled off. Maybe they do have a heart after all.

Why would you pay $200.00 for a tool that does the same job you can do in under a minute as described in the owner's manual?? I have reset many of these without a tool. The only thing that Mercedes forgot to tell was to close the driver's side door while attempting to reset.

It is indeed a neat site. However, their prices are ludicrous. They want $100.78 for the set of 3 wrenches to adjust the valves on a diesel engine. Performance Products sells the same set for $61.60. :(

Don't think I will bother to go back to that site.

Benzmac -

Some people collect and enjoy tools and gadgets. If money were the only issue, none of us would drive Mercedes much less spend time trying to improve them.

Besides, the LiteOff will also reset ABS faults, and retrieve fault codes if you have a PC to connect it to.
