Has anyone had any experience with the Popular Mechanica auto repair software or the ALLDATA online database repair info? The PM product is on CR-ROM and runs $29.95 and the online product is $19.95 for a one-year subscription. I have been unable to find a DIY repair book (Chilton or Haynes) on the 1988 300E. Apparently there is a book published in England but not currently in the US.

I have a Haynes manual published in England for the entire 124 series. It is heavily weighted toward the '92-'95 models, has just bits and pieces of the information needed and wiring diagrams that will get you into real trouble. Its illustrations are crude and best of all, it is easily available for about $30 from Performance Products in CA. (800)243-1220. I keep looking for the M-B CD for some reliable information on my '89 300E but they always seem to be "out of stock"
I know nothing of the Popular Mechanics or ALLDATA products, but I would love to know if they provide better information than I'm getting now.

Crowe i also purchased the England 300E manual from Haynes. Save your money.

I do plan on purchasing a CD manual from this website in the near future though, it seems like your best bet.

Sorry for the typos in the original post. Where is spell check when you need it! The price of the CD manual offered through the PartsShop here is a little steep, but perhaps it is worth it. I am looking for a good source of info for your average DIYer. The Popular Mechanics CD-ROM and ALLDATA product looks interesting and the price is right.
