Looking at my Haynes repair manual, I see a schematic of a diesel PCV. From the oil seperator, is a tube leading down to the crankcase with a check valve on the bottom. If the return tube, or the check valve became clogged from lack of use, or lack of oil changes, wouldn't excessive oil consumption be the result? Anybody see this happen? Would this be something to check in cases of excessive blow by? Thanks, Dusty

Dusty,

I think you're looking at a schematic of the five cylinder system. Every four that I've seen, simply has a tube from the valve cover down to a connection at the intake manifold.

However, you said that you saw a checkvalve at the crankcase. My daughter's five cylinder has the tube, and I was not aware of the check valve, this gives me something to check (no pun intended).

Good luck,

If any part of this system becomes blocked, you will be the first to know. The engine will stall and may blow out oil seals. I have seen a tech block one off with a major service by mistake.

I have not ever seen one clog on its own.
