1994 SL500 info request

I am looking at purchasing a 1994 SL500. Does anyone know of any idiosynchronies of this car. Is the 1995 version significantly different? Is the braking system, head gaskit or electricals a particular problem. Is there anything else I should know about?

make sure that the a/c is working. I just replaced my evaporator in my 94 sl500. These evaporators are very troublesome and WILL eventually leak if it hasn't. My car has 44 k miles and the evap leaked.- Dealer cost: $3000. And that's no joke. If you can afford it, get a 98-02 instead - hopefully they have fixed the design issue of the evaporators that the s-class cars share withthe sl's and the e's of the same era. I went ahead and changes my own evap. - It took me 18hrs just to get to the box. The dash, steering wheel, air bags, blower motor and the whole console came off. It wasn't a pretty picture. In an Austin independent MB shop, they were doing 1 evap change from either an S or an SL every week. Sorry to bring sad news. Most of the car's components are flawless, IMO.

The 1996-on M119 engines (500s) have very important tech upgrades against 1995 and older V8s.

I will to try to go for a 1996 SL500 or later.
