I checked on Fastlane, they are different numbers and there are some visual differences. Will the front calipers on a W126 work on 107?

I have both cars and I believe they are completely different from each other.

I believe the ones I have bought from the dealer have always been rebuilt. They usually charge a core charge-refunded on return of old caliper. I have never had any trouble with the calipers I bought at the dealer, but they aren't cheap. You may be able to get a better price from Phil and he stands behind his stuff. Btw, seems to me the front calipers on my 126 were two piston and the 107 were four piston. it's been awhile since I had them apart.

I looked at them, my wrecked W126 uses Bendix calipers, while my mom's W107 uses ATE calipers. She already has 15 inch wheels off a 560SL, and i assume the car used a smalled brake rotor. If i manage to swap the rotors from the W126, and bolt them onto the 107 hubs, can the 126 calipers work?

Never measured rotors on either car. Maybe if I have the wheels off, I will. Both cars use the same wheels so I don't think there are any clearance problems. Do both your 126 and 107 use exactly the same master cylinder? Same part number stamped on the unit? If not, could be different presures. Also, with ABS involved, I would be wary of changing the design of the system. My wife's SL stops very quickly. Granted the 126 probably weighs 400-500 lbs more than the 107, but I still don't know if it would be a worthwile swap.

I have both a W126 and an R107. The 300SEL only outweighs the 560SL by less than 100 lbs.

I'll check my parts reference for sure, but I don't think the front brakes are interchangeable. The rears are. It also makes a huge difference if you are talking pre- or post-1986. I know the rears use the same rotors and pads.

I believe that the 560SL only used ATE calipers. The W126 used either ATE or Bendix. But even the ATE is not the same caliper. They both have the same wheel clearance, so physically, it may be possible to swap parts. I guess that just depends on the caliper mounts. I've never compared the front rotors, so I don't know if there's an actual difference in the hub size or diameter of the rotor, although I suspect the later is unlikely.

I don't think the master cylinder makes a difference in the calipers because my 300SEL has a Girling master cylinder and ATE rear calipers. Haven't done the front brakes yet, so I don't know what brand calipers are up there.

the wrecked W126 uses Bendix front calipers with a Girling master cylinder and ABS, the W107 uses a all ATE setup, with the exception of rear Girling calipers.
W126 is a 1986, W107 is 1984.

1985 and previous 107s use a stock 14" wheel. Also, the front brakes were beefed up on the 560SL (and went to 15" wheels).

Your W126 came with 15" wheels as stock.

My mom, when she bought the car, had 15" wheels installed, i think there is a possiblity the swap may work.
