I'm looking to buy a mercedes diesel. Found a 84 190D 2.2 with 180K miles the car is in great shape. This car is a automatic with all the bells and whistles. Seller is asking $3495. He states that he used 1 quart of oil per 1,000 to 1,200 miles. Is there any pros and cons between 2.2 and other diesels? I understand that they only made this motor for two years. Does anyone know the reason why? Any comments would be greatly apperciated! Thanks, Colleen

This particular car is extra slow. It's in the 240D automatic category, which is one of the slowest of the slow.

I drive a 240D stick 190 miles per day, but I go through 7 stop signs and one traffic light on the whole round trip, so I can deal with it, I'm almost always cruising. If you drive alot stop light to stop light you may get tired of it in a hurry.

Best of luck,
