E500 and E320

I am buying an E320 tonight. It is a 1994 and mint. All books and records. I am pleased with this purchase, even though I really wanted the performance of E500. My question is this: Can anyone tell me what the differences are between an 1994 E320 and a 1994 E500? Besides the V8 engine and the different back seat? What are the body differences, if any? Suspension? Options? any help will be much appreciated. The E320 is very nice and drives well, but l of course I will want to do some performance upgrades.

fwiw- the W124 500e500 has approximately 4500 different parts vs. the other sedan W124's

hope this helps, the E320 '94 is a great car nonetheless

I know they have wider fender flares for the bigger tires and beefed up sway bars.

E-500 * E-320

Just in case you over looked this. On the top tool bar in "CARS" you'll find spec's on the 92-94 E-500. I own the 94 E-320 and have been pleased with ownership since day one. Keep us posted on any improvements you make. I'm always interested what other 94 owners are doing. Hope you enjoy.........
Regards,
DSR

Missing the car info at the top of the page was silly. Sorry. I guess I was just trying to get a feel for the difeerences between the cars. Bear with me as I adjust from a 190e to an E320

I have owned both a 300E and 500E W124s. The 300E is a wonderful all around car; well built and reliable. The 500E is altogether something different. The 500E is a hand built (by Porsche in Rosa Blau plant) and shows it in the fit and finish which significantly surpasses not only the 300E but any contemporary Mercedes including the S and SLs. The interior is the 4 place sport or coupe interior and of a higher quality with more support in the seats. Several modifications were made to the M119 5liter engine resulting in greater torque and power. I owned an NSX and a 500E is more fun to drive although it obviously will not handle as well. Its comfortable but rock solid.

The succeeding Eclass (210) and the current S class are simply not built to the standard of the 124s. Ask any Tech; don't just look at the interior and exterior fittings; ask about what they are like INSIDE when you pull the dash to change an evaporator. If not abused it is possible to keep or return a 124 to showroom condition. The Master Tech at my Dealer would drive my 92 500E over anything else made by Mercedes.

You cannot go wrong with a excellent condition 300E or 320E as an everyday car but the 500E is bliss. I plan to die with mine.
