Hi everyone:

I just recieved my euro headlights, and as of now they are sitting under my desk. I tried to remove the stock US headlamps, and its a pain in the neck. I removed the screw thats next to the grill, and the 2 screws on the side that lie behind the side markers. They just wont budge. whats else do i have to do?...I didnt buy any new bulbs for them yet, but i know that they need H4. Can i go with the higher wattage bulbs (100/80), or do i have to stick with the stock (65/55). Also, any wiring, soldering, etc, needed?

After removing the inner retaining screw and the two outer retainers, there is a large plastic retainer on the top of each headlight assembly. This goes thru the radiator support and into the headlight assy. These need to be rotated 90 degrees to unlock them. Having done that, you will need to remove the trim strips below the headlights, the little wiper blades and the wiper motors, which attach to the bottom of the headlights.

I kept the stock wattage h4 bulbs, and later upgraded them to the Hella h4 plus bulbs - same wattage, but just a bit of Xenon gas and they are claimed to be 30% brighter. Philips Premiums h4 also do the same thing. I got the Hella h4 (HL78150 60/55Watt) from Susquehanna MotorSports for $27.36 shipped to my door, and they are indeed somewhat whiter and brighter than the stock h4. If you don't have bulbs already, I would start with these - they are about the same price as standard h4 bulbs. If they don't do it for you, then you can upgrade to something else, but the Euro lights have such an improved pattern that you will probably not want to bother with over wattage bulbs.

By the way, I saw in your post that you are contemplating new springs/shocks. Check out the Sportline package from the PartsShop - I love what it did for the handling and ride while still keeping it all MB parts!!!

Finally installed my euro's which was easier than it looked. I did have some problems with the main power harness which is different from the U.S spec headlight. I just removed the "needles" seperately, and installed to the correct outlet. What a difference these lights make--I dont know how i drove with those POS u.s. spec headlights.
