190E transmissin - no forward gears
I have a pretty helthy 1988 190E 2.3. (147 k miles) except for a little detail: The Aut transmission only work in reverse gear. Shifting to other gears gives no reaction. I have diagnosed this symptom in 'Alldatadiy' to be:
'Damage to B2 piston T-form ring resulting in total leakage of Band 2 application pressure' and the remedy is to replase the B2 piston T-form ring. I can se from exploded view that the B2 piston is kept in plase by a metal bar secured by screws in the valve body. My questions is: Is it that simple? How do I access the valve and how do I perform the T-form ring change? I need specialists here! please help! Best regards Thomas Moth Last edited by thomas moth; 11-02-2003 at 05:55 PM. |

Almost all of the time that that style trans won't go forward, the B2 band(or piston) is broken. You lower the trans support & depress the piston to remove snap ring, cover, & piston. Good luck!
