CCS Help- Really Hot Defrost!

Yesterday, due to the rain, we put the CCS in defrost mode. The air stayed very hot regardless of temp setting. If the button was pushed directing air to footwell or combo footwell and defrost, the temp control seemed to work okay. By the time we got home last night, I noticed that the right half of the module is no longer lighted.

Are these symptoms connected?

Forgot to mention model/year.

No, not related.

The defrost setting/function is to blast the windshield with all its got, is normal. That is why you also have the setting to the right which is up and down distribution of air-heated/cooled.

The bulb(s) are out in the CCS controller. You need to remove the control unit, open the back section on top and you will find two small bulb holders. Replace both while you are there.

BTW, they are somewhat unique looking and somewhat hard to find. Look for an OEM lighting section in your local parts store or better order them from this site: FastLane

Also, be sure to get the correct wattage, some are too bright and hot and melt things (not good)!

On the controller in my 300e, I found this small bulb really hard to remove & replace. I used vacuum hose to pull the bulb out. To insert the new bulb I put a straw over the bulb socket, slipped the bulb into the straw so it slid to the socket & put a chopstick into the straw and used it to push the bulb into the socket. Sounds weird, but it worked very well.
Good luck.
