Hi; I just bought my wife a 1996 C220 at the MB dealer. The car has 47,000 miles and three months left on the factory warranty. It passed their inspection, but I'm not sure how hard they look at their used car inventory. Are there any weak spots, leaks or common trouble areas on the car that I should have the dealer look over *before* the warranty is up on the car? Any thoughts appreciated.

Also, the car is a very dark metallic blue; anybody know what the name of that color is? Is it Opal Black?

I would have an independent assessment.

We took my wife's ML320 to the dealer for its first service to see how their service was. They kept the car for four days and found over a thousand dollars worth of warrantee work (that we knew nothing about) but they didn't say a word about the transfer case oil leak.

I wager the tech working on it wouldn't get paid well for the leak repair. I'm watching it and we have plenty of warrantee left. The point is that the techs get paid poorly on many warrantee repairs, which clouds their judgement. Get an opinion from someone who won't be fixing it.

The mbz dealer has the car's warranty service
history on their database.
Try getting an extended warranty. Look it up in the archives.
Good luck to you.
