Source for Compressor Clutch

The coil on my compressor clutch is shorted, so I need to replace the clutch assembly. My mechanic says it's best to replace the entire clutch assembly vs. just the coil. Where is the most economical, trust worthy place to buy a clutch assembly? 1988 420 SEL. Compressor part number 000 230 25 11 88. I'm checking MercedesShop. Where else? Also need to replace the Klima relay. do I have a chance of repairing this relay, or should I just buy new. I have to save $, if at all possible (and don't we all).

If FastLane doesn't have it, this is a place I have dealt with on A/C parts and they have your compressor clutch.

Thanks for the tip on where to get the clutch. I've ordered it and they say I should have it next Tuesday. Cost $88. It's rebuilt, so I hope it holds up. 90-day warranty. The price of a new clutch is rediculous. Depending on where you look, they cost as much or more than a new compressor. Fastlane wants $800 for a clutch. CAAPARTS want $395 for a new clutch. And, I've looked numerous places on the net and couldn't find anybody with available clutches at a reasonable price until you clued me. Thanks, again.

Be aware...

that if you compressor is NOT original you may have problems findind a compatable clutch. There are many different styles out there. I just replaced a clutch and according to Steve Brotherton that is the main problem with rebuilts. I hope you are one of the lucky ones. ;)

This is where a digital picture emailed to them might help with match-up. Or even send them the original clutch. I've found them to be among the most knowledgable on MVAC.

Thanks for the warning. I did ask about a proper match and I was assured the clutch I'm getting will work. However, I asked if it doesn't what is the return policy, and I was told, "not problem," but that I would have to pay shipping cost. Yes, I have my fingers crossed.
