E240 Headlight Problem
 

Dear All,

I have an RHD E240 (saloon) Sept 1998. The low headlight (i.e. small bulb - the one that comes on at the first setting when you turn the light knob - not dipped or full beam) on the passenger side only has failed. I have replaced the bulb and checked the fuses, they seem to be OK.
Could anyone suggest what could be the problem and how it can be solved ?

You mean the city lights. My guess is that the contact is bad. On my W124 the contact for the bulb was sometimes flaky and you had to seat it correctly to get it to turn on. Very annoying because the bulb out indicator comes on.

I would turn it on and carefully jiggle the socket to see if it comes on.
