Power Steering Fluid - 2002 C230 Coupe

A rather embarrassing question, actually......
How do you check the power steering fluid level in a 2002 C230 Coupe?? :-(
It's my girlfriend's car, and she tells me the power steering is making a noise when she turns the wheel.....
"No problem", I say.... "Let me check the fluid level first....."

And I don't see it....... :-(

Can anyone tell me where the fluid reservior is??

Thanks!!

Take it to the dealer so they dont complain messing with the car actually made the problem. I know, I dont like it either but seems easiest not to fight it when you have the warrenty. Its the Mercedes version of the Neon, cant expect too much.

Good luck

It's pointed out in the owners manual.
I think you have to lift off a cover first, kind of on the drivers side of the engine up front, but there is a plasic engine cover over it that just lifts off. look in the manual, should have a diagram showing all the service locations.

Well, I looked through an ML owners manual, and they don't show how to check the power steering in there, so maybe it's not in the manual. Hopefully you can find the reservoir using my previous directions.

Hi Gilly;
Yep, it's under that cover, just as you described.
The fluid level was low, and that's the problem.

Now she knows and can keep up with it, and the next time it goes in for warranty service (the dealer is NOT conveniently located) :-(, she'll add the leak to the things for them to look at.

Thanks much for your help Gilly.
