Try a search on this site. There have been a number of recommendations in the past few months.

Batteries like Interstate, Sears DieHard Gold Series come to mind. Johnson Controls Optima batteries are a completely new animal.... last a long time but cost the most of any battery.

Someone posted that the Sears Gold series is actually a different (and better) battery than the other stuff they have on their shelves.

Cool

Interstate is a good brand. I just replaced mine after 8 years in a 560 SEL. It still worked and still had about 30% of the rated power but I just wanted to upgrade. The model you need sells for around $100.

Group 49. You should be able to buy a 49 and any auto parts store or Costco. Most "house brands" are a basic Johnson Controls design. In my experience inexpensive batteries last at least seven years, but it doens't get cold where I live.

I have used Sears Diehard on my 560 SEL since the last 12 years. I'm not sure if they are have the best battery for this car but so far I never had problems with mine. I like the convenience of driving up to their service bay and let the technicians take care of the rest. Their warranty coverage is good too and I don't have to keep my receipt.

Autozone has one for $50-60. Works in the SDL that I don't start for a month or two at times.
