Can't find thread in search F.I. question

Read a post a few months ago about V8 running ruff and hard to start. Had something about opening throttle slightly and engine smooths out. My symptoms are: Slight miss at idle worse in gear, hard to start below 35F. 3or 4 long trys before starting. Have to rev up to smooth out. surges from 45- 60mph a slight amount. if it was a diesel i would say an injecter or two are dripping or flooding. please help Thanks

PS oil has a gas oder to it.

If this is what your pressure regulator looks like:

check the small vent port - at the top in the pic - for leaking fuel. It vents to the breather, thence into the crankcase. If the pressure regulator is leaky, replace it and see if the driveability improves too.
