help wanted S320 1997 lumbar support
Hi, new from over the pond. Abrupt failure of vacum pump acompanied by burning smell under rear seat of my 1997 s320. replaced unit - motor burnt out. All works (central locking, headrests, boot handle ) but lumbar support has not come back. I cannot see any obvious vaccum leak at the pump and haven't disturbed any other wiring. Are there any electrical fuses / relays on the seats to reset ? The seat heating works fine as does the seat motors. Any other tips anybody?

Seems very quiet on the reply front, Has anyone any tips or do i have to see if the local dealer can help?

Well, without getting into one and looking around, I'd say either the bladder is leaking or maybe the new pump is not coded correctly.

Joe,
When you say not coded - what do you refer to? This is a pre-bus W140 chassis model. The part number of the pump matches and old and new look alike, at least externally. I've simply plugged it into the wiring loom as it was before. If a bladder had gone on one seat, would both lumbar supports be inoperable or just the one? They both don't work at present .
